Shop at our thrift store in Barre and donate clothes. Make a difference!

Inventory changes daily

When you shop, volunteer or donate at Amy’s Armoire you help children and families right here in Vermont. We try to fill the gaps that foster, adoptive, and kin families experience in an overstretched and underfunded system.

SHOP

SHOP: You may not even need money!

Shop in our thrift store in Barre!

Amy's Armoire is a thrift store in Barre, Vermont. Our prices are set for affordability. We're a non-profit with a mission; proceeds from the thrift store benefit foster children through individual and programmatic outreach.  Nothing is over $5 in the shop!

Foster, foster-adoptive parents and families raising kin may qualify for clothes FREE for those kids at our donation center, which is accessible to those families day or night if needed.   In addition, these families are eligible for free toys, books, furniture and baby equipment we have.  We currently have storage units in 3 districts.  For access to any of these items or help us expand this service to other districts, reach out to Amy.

Amy's Armoire accepts DCF-Family Service vouchers for clothing from any district. Low income Vermonters can request a shopping voucher through your Economic Services workers. We also accept vouchers from Churches, Shelters, and Domestic Violence programs. We have a program to help kids who have aged out of foster care and are between 18-26; inquire for more info.

We also have a Pay it Forward program where people can purchase a gift card for strangers in need.

We're here to resource families with clothes and the connections they need.

DONATE

DONATE CLOTHES

Donate gently used clothes at our Barre thrift store any time the store is open.

Rehome your unwanted clothes; keep them out of landfills and put them in others' armoires. We accept adult clothing up to size 3X, as well as maternity, baby & children's clothes, toys and books in great shape, on Saturdays 10-2 at the donation center (74 South Main Street, Barre). Enter the small door by the garage door.

We currently have a 3 bag limit. No Construction/leaf bags-think white kitchen bag size (so we can lift them above our heads easily).

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

  • PLEASE-Never leave items outside either location. If you can't donate during Saturdays, contact us to arrange a drop-off time/location

  • Clothing should be clean and in wearable condition. If you've stored them a while in a garage, basement, storage unit, please rewash them before donating.

  • PLEASE-No household items, No bedding, No curtains, tablecloths, etc. only clothes, accessories, baby items, toys and children's books in great shape. We don't have space/time for items we can't use. We may donate these items to foster/adopt/kin/birth families and teens who age out of foster care and if there isn't a need we may auction the item or sell them in our store for revenue for the cause.

  • Furniture can also be offered on our FB group "Annex to Amy's Armoire" and if you have bunk beds, twin frames, dressers, cribs  (no recalls) we may choose to store these for when we need them..

  • We can only take 3 kitchen size bags at a time.

Your donation is tax deductible. Please ask for a receipt. Donors determine the value of each item. Use 30% of the original cost as the value.

Financial donations allow us to lift up more families and children.
