Foster/adopt/kin families often need things you have no use for or services you have to offer. Maybe you know someone who does have "just the thing." We've built Facebook groups to help link the needs of families with the community who can help.
-
Select your district and click on the "Free resources from the community..." link.
-
Join the group of community members supporting foster/adopt/kin parents.
Most of these groups are in the beginning stages, so we need to grow the membership. By joining and inviting safe and giving friends, you will help build support around these families.

Other ways to help
-
Transport children to appointments
-
Cook meals or clean a house
-
Provide respite: MANY families just need time to be kid-free to attend trainings or support groups or to just have a rare date night. Even just a few hours once a week can make a huge difference to a family.
-
Donate to Tatum's Totes: This non-profit is committed to donating a tote bag of new, age-appropriate personal hygiene items, toys, and comfort items to each foster child in Vermont for the very traumatic first night they leave their family. Elizabeth Grimes (founder/owner) can be contacted at Grimes802@icloud.com. This program is active in 8 districts so far. If you are in a district that does not have this yet and can help, let us know.
If you are a VT State Employee and participate in VT Shares, you can select Amy's Armoire as your charity of choice. We are almost fully volunteer-run, so you can know that almost all your proceeds go directly to the mission.
